Harwich Happenings
Benefit Concert for UKRAINE
Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port will present a concert on Sunday, June 12th, at 3 pm to benefit Ukrainian refugee assistance work in Poland.
The concert will be an interweaving of music and readings on the theme of Hope and Resilience. Tom Johnson, a local Harwich businessman who has created the Ukrainian Relief Mission, will help welcome people to the concert, sharing briefly about the work he has been doing over the last several months.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Ukrainian Relief Mission, which Johnson oversees in partnership with others as well as directly in Poland himself. “It is incredible to have an organization right here in Harwich Port that is making a difference overseas during such a time of crisis, and I see no better way to uplift those displaced then through music and a celebration of Ukrainian culture,” shares Pilgrim Church’s Director of Music Dr. Matthew Scinto.
The musical program will include members of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, soprano Kristin Howard, pianist Ana Glig, 8 th grade students Kai Waynen & Alex Borkowski, and Pilgrim Church and Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra Music Director Dr. Matthew Scinto. Performed will be music of Brahms, Faure, Ukrainian Folk Music, as well as music by Ukrainian composers Vasily Prisovsky, Theodore Akimenko, and Milena Shivotovskaya.
