STUDENT CONCERT TO SUPPORT CAPE SYMPHONY MUSIC EDUCATION

Violinist Kai Waynen and pianist Aleksander Mohmand-Borkowski will present a concert to benefit Cape Symphony Education at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 PM. The program includes works by Mendelssohn, Ysaÿe, Bach, Dvorák, and Kreisler. Mirela Chisbora will perform as a collaborating pianist. Kai began playing violin at three, and has played with the New England Conservatory Preparatory String Orchestra and the Boston Youth Symphony Junior Repertory Orchestra. His accolades include: 1st place in the Rondo Young Artist Competition; 1st place in the 2021 Massachusetts Teachers Association Bay State Contest and the 2022 Chatham Music Club Scholarship Competition; and 2nd place in the 2022 American Music Talent Competition. Last year, he was chosen for NEC Prep’s Chamber Music Intensive Performance Seminar. Kai is a junior at Sturgis Charter Public School. Aleksander is a first prize winner of the 2022 Chatham Music Club Scholarship Competition. He lives in Dennis, and is a junior at St. John Paul II High School. He has been playing piano since age eight, and now studies under renowned concert pianist and pedagogue Ana Glig. Aleksander participated in the 24th International Piano Festival in Naleczow, Poland, and has much performance experience on Cape Cod. Kai and Aleksander are grateful for the role of music in their lives, and passionate about making music education more accessible. “As I became aware of the need for scholarships, especially for younger students,” says Kai, “I saw that this could change their lives.” The Cultural Center of Cape Cod is located at 307 Old Main St., S. Yarmouth. A suggested donation of $25.00/family will go entirely to Cape Symphony Education for need-based tuition assistance.
